Lighthouse Project!
North Carolina is in need of a new lighthouse and needs your help! Collaborate with your group to answer the following essential question: Where would be the best place to build a new lighthouse along the NC coast, and what would be the best type of lighthouse for that location?
Please reference this rubric for specific criteria. You will begin this project by researching the current NC lighthouses, the purpose of a lighthouse, the parts of a lighthouse, and materials used. Using a map of the NC coast, you will then choose a location for a new lighthouse to be built and design the best lighthouse for that location. You may use your Social Studies textbook, the Internet, and/or other books from the library to gather your information. Throughout your research, you will organize facts onto a note page as well as a planning packet with your group. Using your gathered information, you will write a persuasive essay on why your chosen location and design is the best option for a new NC Lighthouse. Finally, you will create a replica of your lighthouse in the Creation Station and give a visual presentation to the class of your design.
This project is due in two parts:
